Privacy Policy

Playful Learning Ecademy Co. (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “Playful Learning”) knows that you care about how your personal information is used and shared, and we take your privacy and the privacy of your child seriously. Please read the following to learn more about how we use your personal information. By visiting, accessing or using the http://www.playfullearning.net website, and any other linked pages, features, content, or application services offered by Playful Learning in connection therewith (collectively, the “Website”), or using any of our services, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy.

What Does This Privacy Policy Cover?

This Privacy Policy covers Playful Learning’s treatment of personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”) that Playful Learning gathers when you access the Website and when you use Playful Learning’s services. This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that Playful Learning does not own or control (including any third-party products or services used for logging into the Website or that are integrated with the Website), or to individuals that Playful Learning does not employ or manage. The Website may contain links to other sites. Playful Learning is not responsible for the privacy policies and/or practices on other sites. When linking to another site a user should read the privacy policy stated on that site.

What Personal Information Does Playful Learning Collect?

The information we gather in relation to the purchase and participation in our Playful Learning Ecademy eCourses from users enables us to provide, personalize and improve our services, and allows our users to set up a user account and profile that can be used to personalize their experience on the Website and interact with other users through the site. In connection with the Playful Learning Ecademy eCourses, we request and display some personal information to other users and visitors of the Website, which allows users to identify one another. We collect the following types of information from our users:

Personal Information You Provide to Us:

When you initially create an account on our service, it is with the parent or guardian’s name and email address. In addition to this parental email address, we also receive and store the following information when you create an account: We ask you to upload a photograph, which will represent you on the service; we ask you to pick a nickname to identify yourself on the service. * We ask you to provide a password.

While the parental email address is never publicly visible within our courses, their name is until it is modified by the parent or guardian. At that point the parent or guardian can decide how they want to modify their account name and profile picture and whether or not they want to include a profile picture or names of their children. We do not condition you or your child’s participation in an online activity on the child providing more personal information than is reasonably necessary for that activity. Once the account is created, we send an email to the provided parental email address prompting parents or guardians to modify their account according to their own personal preferences. During the parental account registration process, we receive and store the following information: full name of the parent, parent’s email address, a password for the parental account, as well as any other information necessary for us to provide our services. In addition, if a parent elects to subscribe to any paid features of our service, we may collect additional billing information such as a mailing address.

If it is deemed that account was not created by the parent, we delete the parental email address from our database. Playful Learning does not intentionally collect any personal information from children other than the information set out above. However, as part of the functionality of our service, we allow eCourse participants to upload certain content to the site, including photos, videos and comments. We take measures to prevent children from communicating personal information through these features, but we cannot guarantee the effectiveness of these measures. If you use these features to disclose personally identifiable information, you should be aware that such information could be read, collected, or used by other users and/or third parties. At all times throughout the participation in the Playful Learning Ecademy eCourses, the parent or guardian remains responsible for all names, photos, comments, and contributions made to the Playful Learning Ecademy eCourse Websites. You agree not to provide any personally identifiable information through these features, and we are not responsible for any personally identifiable information that you provide using these features.

You can choose not to provide us with certain information, but then you may not be able to take advantage of many of the Website’s special features. The personal information you provide is used for such purposes as obtaining parental consent as set forth above, providing parents with notice of our privacy practices, answering questions, improving the content of the Website, responding to your requests for certain information, products and services, attribution for content you submit, customizing the advertising and content you see, allowing you to communicate with other users, and communicating with you about Playful Learning’s products and services, including specials and new features.
Personal Information Collected Automatically:

  • We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with our Website or use our services. Playful Learning automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, cookie information, browser information, operating system, timestamps, the pages you request, and the actions and path you take on the Website.
  • Generally, our service automatically collects usage information, such as the numbers and frequency of visitors to our Website and how they use its various components. Playful Learning only uses this data in aggregate form, that is, as a statistical measure, and not in a manner that would identify you personally. This type of aggregate data enables us to figure out how users use parts of the Website or services so that we can make the Website appealing to as many users as possible, and improve those services. As part of this use of information, we may provide aggregate information to our partners about how our users, collectively, use our Website or services. We share this type of statistical data so that our partners also understand how people use the Website or services, so that they, too, may provide you with an optimal online experience. Again, Playful Learning never discloses aggregate information to a partner in a manner that would identify you personally.

E-mail Communications:

We may use your contact information to send emails to you about Playful Learning and other related topics that may be of interest to users of the Website, as well as for the other reasons set forth in this Privacy Policy. We may receive a confirmation when you open an email from Playful Learning if your computer or device supports this type of functionality. Playful Learning uses this confirmation to help us make emails more interesting and helpful and to improve the Website and our services. When you receive e-mail from Playful Learning, you can opt out of receiving further e-mails by following the included instructions to unsubscribe.

What About Cookies?

  • Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer’s (or other device’s) persistent storage medium (e.g., hard drive) through your browser to enable our systems to recognize your browser and tell us how and when pages in our site are visited and by how many people. We use cookies to enhance visitors’ experiences, to learn more about their use of the Website and to improve quality.
  • Most browsers have an option for turning off the cookie feature, which will prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, as well as (depending on the sophistication of your browser software) allowing you to decide on acceptance of each new cookie in a variety of ways. We strongly recommend that you leave the cookies activated, however, because cookies enable you to take advantage of some of our Website’s most attractive features.
